The girl rolled over, and pain shot down her side. She knew pain. She also knew cold. Cold like the way the raindrops pelted her skin, soaking easily through the thin fabric of her dress. She opened her eyes, and shrieked lightly. It was dark. She knew darkness too. Now she just needed to get home. Which was? She screamed again, earsplittingly loud this time. She didn't remember. She stood up, and pain shot all through her, burning her veins like fire. She dropped to the ground, and looked at her dress. It was ruined, stained with blood and dirt. She really wasn't sure if she needed it anymore. Or if she had even needed it at all. Her brain hurt, and she rubbed her head. There was something hot and sticky, not rain. She pulled her hand down and looked at it, blood ran down her fingers. What in the world? She pulled herself to her feet a second time, and fell again, landing fast first in the mud. She settled for crawling, her hands and knees carrying her toward the only sign of comfort she could see, a large builing in the distance. Hours later, pain blurred her vision, she stumbled toward the door, landing hard on the wood. She pounded on the door until her fists bled, screaming at the top of her lungs. "IS ANYBODY HOME?! ANYBODY! SOMEBODY HELP! HELP!" Without warning, the door swung open, and a tall man stood in the doorway, looking down at her. The place looked like a school, and she stared up at him, suddenly fearful, her blue eyes wide in terror. "Er... " she whispered, not sure why she was here, after all. "Are you a lost student?" the man's voice was deep, scratchy. "No" "Ulevi Mauti?" he whispered, sounding fearful now. "No" she didn't even know what that was. He looked at her, "Should I take you to the headmistress, young lady?" more relaxed now. Um, yes, no. Maybe. Yes. Yes. Yes I would. Outloud you idiot! "Yes" He nodded, "What's your name?" She just blinked at him, and the horrible, terrible final truth dawned on her. "I... I don't know..."

Sarai heard a knock on her office and looked up and in a husky voice called out, "Come in." She had just gotten back from her Maji lesson in advanced battle magic and was worn to the bone. But yet she still had plenty of work to do. d**n Romulus. d**n Ulevi Mauti or Intoxicated Death. d**n Felicity Temime. d**n myself. She fixed her slouched position into straight up posture and made herself looked composed. If only that was true, but hell Sarai's life couldn't be that easy.

The girl stepped into the room. She had no idea what she was here for, but she had just wanted to get out of the rain. Blood dripped down one side of her face, and her eyes were wet and shining with unshed tears. Her blond hair was matted and sticking up in all directions, and her dress was soaked, not to mention streaked with mud and blood. She looked at the lady at the desk, suddenly almost scared. She tried out her voice, but couldn't speak, and her words came out as a tiny whimper.

"What was that, Manzi? I couldn't hear your words." She asked warmly using the Swahilian word for girl. The girl did look torn up with matted hair and dried, cracked blood plastered all over her face. Sarai waited her eyes overflowing with worry for the girl. She looked like she was about to pass out and die. She nodded for the man who brought her to leave.

"I... don't know." she whispered, her voice dry from screaming, her words barely audible. "I woke up. And I dont remember anything. And I wanted to get out of the rain..."

"Hmm...seems to be a bad case of amnesia. Well you can stay here until you get your memory back if you wish, but be warned we are in the middle of a war with a group called Ulevi Mauti led by Romulus Thilsade whom wishes to kill us all. But the school is well protected by myself and the other Tichas." Sarai said with a bitter smile. "I am the Headmistress, Saraiyu Temaida." Sarai added. "So do you remember anything?" Sarai asked intriguded in fasination. "It's perfectly fine if you don't though."

The girl shrugged. She couldn't remember a thing. She looked around. At least there was no wet or cold or pain here. "I want to stay."

Minnie had been walking up to Sarai's office, her binder cradled against her chest and her silver hair brushed into a pony tail. Her red bangs were growing, so Asumini had brushed the strands of hair to the side of her face and over her eye. Her earrings were glowing red in happiness, and she felt great, but that would soon all be shattered by her gym class later that day, so Minnie had been willing to pass through Sarai's office to get to her mailbox, to recieve her lesson plans that were coming in the mail. She needed to AT LEAST prepare! As she walked into the small room, though, the young lady almost dropped the red binder onto the ground in shock, her earrings turning a hazy white in horror at the sight of a young person who looked like a murder victim in a scary movie. She put her hand to her chest- it was just a small girl, but what had she been through, the poor thing? She walked to Sarai's desk and put the binder down, looking sadly at the girl. She whispered, "What happened to her? Is she ok?" Her earrings turned a horrified shade of pink as she looked over the poor girl, looking confused, and lost, dirty, and cold. "I need to go check my mailbox, Sarai, but when I come back, do you want me to take her to a dorm room to get warm and cleaned off?" she volenteered, picking her binder back up and putting it against her chest, still glancing at the poor girl.

"She needs to go to the infirmary. They'll fix her up and keep an eye on her until the time is right," Sarai replied calmly. "Manzi, if you'll follow me I'll take you down to the infirmary where they will heal your injuries and get you cleaned up. You'll probably have to stay there over night."

The girl nodded, petrified. What were all these stange people with their stange words and their strange customs?! She shrugged that thought away. Who am I? Whats my name? Where did I live? How did I get there? She didn't know.
Once she found her way to the infirmary, she stood for a second, staring into the mirror on the side of a door. Her hair was blonde, and matted against her head, strands sticking up all over the black. Her skin was pale, her eyes a deep blue, large and terrified. Blood poured down half of her face, and the rest was smudged with mud. She would have been pretty. She wore an elegant white evening gown. It had thin straps, and was tight until it reached her waist, where it flowered out, swishing as she walked. It was stained with mud, streaked with redish brown spot she could only imagine were blood. Tears rolled down her face, the water tracing patterns in the mud caking her skin, and she stared into her own eyes, hoping to find, somewhere in them, the depths of her past. Who she was. But the ocean blue eyes were so decieving. Nothing but a shallow lake, holding no answered, only terror.
Soon after, she showered, changed, had a hot lunch, and had her head wound patched up. She crawled into the warm bad, sighing as she slid between the clean-smelling sheets.
Her dream came in a series of images, rushing through her head so quickly she barely had time to comprehend them.
A blond lady dressed in white robes held the hand of a screaming girl as she led her down a hallway. Tears ran down the girls terrified face, and the woman whispered words of comfort, half dragging her toward a door. Shadows that belonged to neither of them crept along the walls beside them, whispering words of menace and nightmare.
A stern looking man slammed the a door in the same girl's face, a few years later, locking her and her desperate plees into the white room.
"I'M NOT CRAZY" She screamed up at the night sky, just days ago.
"Do you know who you are?" a dark man kneeled beside her bed.
"KILL HER" somebody shreiked, and she heard a cry of distress. She ran faster, but she could hear the footsteps behind her, gaining on her, faster, faster...
A flash of fire, and it was gone
She snapped awake, screaming so loudly that everybody in the ward looked at her, the nurses running over to check on her. Tears streamed down her face, and she curled up, shivering, crying and whimpering. So lost... all alone. Who was this girl?
