Kandy felt a tear roll from her eye. Her sister... did she dare to say hated her? Well she did. She didn't even know why she herself was upset! She just... she didn't know. Not anymore. Maybe her sister would like it better if she wasn't here. Ohmygod Kandy! Stop being so DRAMATIC! She's angry because you walked off, but she still loves you! she tried to tell herself, but her brain shook it off. Maybe she should leave. She would be happier back home, with her mom, and dad, and the new puppy, and all of her old friends, and her old school, and her old home, where nobody cared if she had an element, but liked her for herself. That would be the best, other than here, with no friends, where her sister was angry with her, where she wasn't that good with her skill, and where she was being stalked by a pervert and NOBODY KNEW. She nodded to herself, but then shook her head, and nodded again, and then dropped her head into her hands. What should she do?!

Sandry grabbed her ipod and turned it way up, stuffing the headphones in her ears and throwing the blanket over her head, laying down and trying to fall asleep as music pounded into her brain. She tried to tell herself it wasn't so bad. And it wasn't. Kandy had no right to be upset. It's not my problem she can't make friends by herself. She's 12, she needs to grow up and stop needing me around all the time...

Kandy folded her arms and looked down to the sofa. What should she choose? She didn't want to leave her sister... but right now she wanted Eryk. And she was right. She did depend on her sister... but just yesterday they were sharing a milkshake like best friends... now she's telling her to grow up?? She put her head down as tears started rolling from her cheeks. She made her decision. She wanted to go home.

Sandry fell asleep like nothing was wrong. And nothing was wrong. Kandy would have to get over it. And she was planning to spend saturday with Eryk anyway, so it didn't matter. Didn't matter one bit.

Kandy had made up her mind. She tiptoed into the dorm and picked up her cell phone, then went back out. She dialed the home number, and when she heard her father happily pick up, she murmered, a bit regrettedly, "I want to come home."

Her father agreed readily, "Your mother's at a work party at the moment, but we'll call you back tomorrow afternoon to discuss when we're going to pick the two of you up!" He said, assuming both girl's were coming home, "Okay?"

"Umm, dad? I just want to go home. Sandry wants to stay, and she doesn't care if I come home." She wanted to say And she doesn't want me to stay here with her at all, but she didn't.

"Alright" he said, sounding slightly confused. "That's fine then. Like we said, we'll call you back. Bye, hun"

"Bye Dad," Kandy whispered, and hung up. Then she slightly smiled. Home. She could see Samantha and Kelli again, her best friends in the world. She could see Josh and Nick and Tim, her best guyfriends. She could see Mrs. Keen, her favorite school teacher. She could see the new puppy, and maybe even name him. She could have her old room again, and finally get to practice the piano again, and one night curl up sleeping with her old boombox and favorite music she had to leave behind, and with the puppy sleeping beside her. And Sandry can be here, kissing Eryk and dancing with her new friends and everyone, and she could have her OWN life. She liked this very much. Kandy smiled, and decided to watch some TV, flipping on the Cartoon channel, and wincing when some baby show came on. She quickly just flipped it to the news, and sank into the comfy arm-chair as everyone departed to their dorms to get ready for bed. No way I'm going back there to sleep, she said to herself. She walked slowly back to the dorm, unlocked the door, and walked inside. She gathered her blanket and pillow, and then left, locking the door behind her and leaving the sleeping Sandry alone. She walked back out to the armchair, and slunk down into it, putting the pillow behind her and the blanket over her, and drifting off to sleep, listening to some report on a wildfire in New Mexico.

Later, Kandy awoke to the sound of her cell phone ringing her favorite tone. She flipped it open, and slurred sleepily, "Hullo? Kandy Arundhati..." She sat straight up, completely awake, when she heard her dad's voice. "Hey dad!!" She listened for a minute. "Yeah? Ok, 8 o'clock. Got it. I'll get packed up now, and then what?" She listened again. "Sarai. Got it. You may want to call her to tell her I'm leaving first. So she won't- yeah." She listened again, and then smiled. "Got it! Bye Daddy!" She hung up, and then grabbed her pillow and blanket, procceeding to her dorm room. She reached deep under her bed and took out her suitcase, and began to pack up her clothes.
