Sandry walked into the common room. Kandy had music, but as Sandry hadn't signed up for either music or art, this was her free period. She had no homework, and didn't know any of the other people in the common room, so she really didn't have anything else to do. Some older kids were watching the TV, a crime show that didn't intrest her, so she sunk into an armchair, and dug a book out of her bag, this was one of her school books, "Commanding the Maji Element, Safi, year one" and began to read

Kandy popped her head into the common room from the archway and said, "Sandry, time for lunch. Wanna come get some pizza or something? She sat in a chair next to her sister while everyone else filed out of the room. She peeked into the book that her sister was reading. "What'cha doin?" she asked. Without waiting for an answer, like always, she went into her whole schedule of her day without waiting for Sandry to comment, and while brushing her hair, she said as if she had recited it, "Well, we learned the Solfedge Notes today. They go Do, Re, Mi, Fa, OH wait! Did I tell you that I got in trouble in Gym today? Oh yeah, you were there. So what was your favorite part of today, huh?" She leaned over the arm of Sandry's chair and tipped her head onto her sister's shoulder lovingly. "Do you miss mom and dad? I sure do. I wish they were here right now to see us, don't you?" Sandry didn't know it, but every day, Kandy felt even more homesick, missing her parents. She sighed and got up, running toward the archway, being her own perky self. "I'll beat you to the dining hall!" she yelled.
