Exitrith sat at her desk, doing her water sculptures as usual. She made sculptures according to what she could remember from a book her mother used to read to her as a child. There was the king, then ther drunkard, followed by the conceited man, businessman, lamplighter, geographer, and finally the snake on Earth. She took special time sculpting the snake, as it was one of the most important. She was sure to make its coils perfect, and each of its scales individually textured and overlapping. Its watery eyes glistened hardly, and its fangs just peeped out of the corners of its slyly grinning mouth. After adding the finishing touches by making the body leading to the tailtip taper nearly perfectly, she took a whole five minutes concentrating on the sculpture, making it permafrost. She took the permanantly frozen ice sculpture out of the bowl and placed it on her desk. She took a quick glance at her teaching schedule. The first period today was a brilliant Moto class of two, who, as far as she knew, would burn the paper. Whoop.
She looked up at the twenty desks before her, and saw one was crooked. Her perfectionism became the best of her as she stood and set to adjusting each and every one of the desks in the room until they were all facing her desk perfectly. She walked slowly along the front, inspecting the desks. With a curt nod, she turned around to face her desk, satisfied. She stroked the frozen snake, mystified by its amount of coldness. It was breathtaking. Then, She turned and leaned against her desk with her butt, her hands clasped behind her back. She crossed her legs and turned her head to the right to gaze out the window. She waited for her first students to come.
